Alliance Group Limited Advances eBL Adoption Across Global Export Operations with WaveBL

The Challenge: Paper-Based Documentation Added Cost, Delays, and Complexity

Before adopting WaveBL, Alliance’s export documentation processes still relied on paper Bills of Lading for some carriers.

This created several operational challenges, including manual document handling, limited visibility, and delays, particularly in trade flows involving multiple parties. The process also involved significant courier expenses for original documents and required time from the export documentation team to manage, track, and follow up on printed Bills of Lading.

Managing buyer and consignee requirements, document release, and repeated follow-ups added further complexity and increased the risk of delays or rework.

The Solution: A Phased, Shipment-Driven eBL Rollout

Alliance adopted WaveBL through a progressive, phased approach rather than a
single cutover.

Customer and consignee onboarding was driven by actual shipping activity. Alliance tracked Shipping Instructions and invited customers and consignees to onboard when they had upcoming shipments, making adoption practical, relevant, and directly connected to live trade flows.

Alliance led the initial outreach to customers and consignees, allowing its team to
remain in control of the process and maintain full visibility. WaveBL then supported the onboarding process with direct follow-up, training, and guidance until onboarding was completed.

This collaborative approach helped align Alliance, WaveBL, customers, consignees, and the carrier partner throughout the rollout.

The Impact: Over 98% Successful Customer and Consignee Onboarding

Since releasing its first eBL on 19 January 2026, Alliance has achieved an over
98% successful customer and consignee onboarding rate.

The phased approach helped improve coordination across export documentation
workflows, reduce manual follow-ups, and simplify the management of multi-
party trade flows.

For multi-party trade flows where the buyer and final consignee may be different
parties, WaveBL helped simplify eBL coordination by reducing manual intervention and supporting clearer digital document release to the correct party.

Moving Toward Scalable Paperless Trade

Alliance’s implementation demonstrates how a practical, shipment-driven
onboarding approach can support scalable eBL adoption across complex export
operations.

By digitizing Bills of Lading with WaveBL, Alliance is improving operational
efficiency, reducing reliance on paper, and enabling more transparent, secure,
and scalable trade documentation processes.

The rollout was supported through close collaboration between Alliance Group
Limited, WaveBL, and MSC as carrier partner.
